The latest news about 71-year-old Jackie Chan

Recently, a major piece of news has been spreading in the film industry. The crime action film “The Wind Chaser” starring Jackie Chan and Zhang Zifeng, with a special appearance by Tony Leung, has announced its official release date of August 16th. Since its preparation, the film has been highly anticipated, and the announcement of its release date has instantly ignited the enthusiasm of movie fans.

“The Wind Chaser” is written and directed by Yang Zi. It tells the story of a cunning thief who poses a multi-dimensional challenge to the Macau police, forcing the police department to bring back the retired tracking expert Huang Dezhong (played by Jackie Chan) who has been out of the game for many years. Together with the young and elite detectives of the Criminal Investigation Department, they engage in a three-way battle of wits, psychology, and physical strength with the top thief gang, where traditional tracking techniques collide with high-tech.

In this film, 71-year-old Jackie Chan plays a police officer again after 21 years, forming a stark contrast to his role as Chen Guorong in “New Police Story” in 2004: the swift skill of disassembling and assembling a gun in 45 seconds has been replaced by a slower pace. The interplay of his grizzled temples and steady gaze suddenly reminds the audience that the “superman” who challenged the laws of physics with his body has finally been caught up by time. However, with his rich acting experience, he still interprets the character’s wisdom and composure to perfection. Jackie Chan once said that the tracking elements and the setting of the confrontation between old thinking and new technology in the film deeply attracted him.

On April 7th this year, Jackie Chan celebrated his 71st birthday. With a career spanning 63 years, this Hong Kong-born actor, born in 1954, entered the industry as a stuntman in 1971 and established his position in the film industry with representative works such as “Drunken Master”, “Project A”, “Police Story”, “Rumble in the Bronx”, and “Myth”. He once said that as long as he could still fight, he hoped to have a film for his fans every year.

Zhang Zifeng’s performance in this film is also highly anticipated. She plays a cool and fierce female police officer for the first time and forms a master-apprentice relationship with Jackie Chan to fight side by side. When talking about working with Jackie Chan, Zhang Zifeng said it was a dream come true. In the trailer, Jackie Chan’s line, “Don’t worry, you’re my ace,” adds a lot of suspense to their collaboration.

Tony Leung plays the “ruthless wolf king” Fu Longsheng in the film, who adopts six orphans and trains them into talented thieves with unique skills. He is about to engage in a life-and-death struggle of “wits, courage, and cunning” with the “mysterious tracking team” led by Jackie Chan and Zhang Zifeng.

As the only crime action film in the summer season, “The Wind Chaser” presents a unique “tracking” perspective, not only showcasing the thrilling confrontation between the two camps but also presenting the intense collision between “old school” and high-tech elements. It is bound to bring the audience a fresh and exciting police-thief showdown. On August 16th, let’s go to the cinema together and witness this peak confrontation between good and evil.
